A retired Captain from the US Air Force, he earned his MS in Physical Therapy from Texas Women's University. He is currently enrolled at Regis University where he is pursuing a Doctor of Physical Therapy. His particular interest is in orthopedics and sports medicine.
Sal received numerous awards during his distinguished career in the Air Force, the most notable of which is the National Defense Service Medal for his role in defending the president of the United States during September 11, 2001. The Humanitarian Service Medal was awarded for the voluntary healthcare services that he provided in El Salvador (2006) and during Hurricane Katrina (2005). There is a Wall of Honor in Eisenhower Park, New York that is dedicated to him and other Air Force members for their distinguished service during the Gulf War.
